Enough windows to replace all the sashes in the warehouse portion of the Mill have arrived. They have to be caulked, stained (the insides) and painted (the outsides). Here’s an opportunity to provide some volunteer time to the township/historical society. Dani McClannahan has generously volunteered to coordinate the project. Many thanks to Isaac Danuloff for his fine video documentary on the Mill, which we posted recently to this website. The video, with excellent interviews and visuals, completed Isaac’s Eagle Scout requirements. Boy Scout Troop 27 recognized his Eagle Scout installation at a Boy Scout Court of Honor on August 9. Isaac is now in his freshman year at Middlebury College.

We have completed work on the tail race at the Mill, the project financed by a grant from the Lower Delaware Wild and Scenic organization. The tail race was regraded and cleaned of all debris and volunteers this week planted nearly 100 shrubs and trees to stabilize the banks of the race. All these were native plants chosen, we hope, to choke out invasive plants in the future. We will keep an eye out for any incursions of invasives and will be prepared to take prompt action. About 90% of the labor was provided by volunteers and this of course speaks well of the community.

This past weekend, November 16-17, the Mill received a thorough cleaning by Nathan Thoman and a large contingent from Boy Scout Troop 27, with friends and parents. Nathan adopted this project as part of his effort to gain his Eagle Scout designation. He is also gathering information and preparing display placards that will explain the functions of many of the pieces of equipment found in the Mill.
